The journey from a simple idea to Uganda's premier student innovation platform
Four university students from different institutions met at a tech meetup in Kampala. They realized students across Uganda were working in isolation, unaware of similar projects happening at other universities.
Working late nights after classes, they built the first version of UITA Platform. It started as a simple forum where students could share project ideas and find collaborators.
Victoria University became the first official UITA chapter. Within the first week, 75+ students signed up, validating the need for such a platform.
Officially launched UITA Platform with 3 university chapters and 500 registered users. The first hackathon attracted 50 participants from across Uganda.
Today, UITA Platform connects students from 15+ universities, has facilitated 100+ projects, and continues to grow as Uganda's leading student innovation ecosystem.
